Home Made Lip Balm

HOME MADE LIP BALM - YUMMY HONEY FLAVOUR
  • 2 T organic Shea Butter
  • Honey (or you can use essential oils instead, ie.... spearmint or peppermint)

I am one of those girls that Always has to have her lip balm with her at all times..... not even sure if my lips need it to be honest, but now it has become a sense of 'safe' for me....a habit I guess.

Over the past years of living the raw lifestyle, I have been made aware of the harmful ingredients and chemicals used in most open market cosmetics and of course lets not forget the cruelty to animals during the testing modes of production of these products. Therefore, a year ago, I came up with my own recipe for a very very simple yet effective lip balm to which I use all the time....simply varying the flavourings from time to time.

For some reason, I enjoy the Honey flavoured lip balm more so in the winter months and during the warmer months of the year I tend to go for the minty flavours....I guess they appear more refreshing and the honey seems more comforting in the colder months. It is up to you!!! These are just my preferences.

To make the lip balm takes minimum effort and really is worth while when you concider the pricing of most lip balms on the market now a days too.

Simply melt down the Shea butter gently - I place the solid butter in a small ceramic bowl and then place the bowl in a larger bowl filled with boiling water and after about 3-5 minutes it is perfectly melted down. The honey or chosen flavouring is then added to the melted butter,  mixed well and then placed into a sterilized pot with lid and left in the fridge to set for an hour before use. That's it!!! Simple no!!!?

I recently purchased these cute little candle holders....they are in fact carved from Himalayan Pink Salt!!

They were so cheap too...... at only 2 euros each....I couldn't resist.

They also go perfectly well with my Himalayan Salt Lamp I already purchased a few years back as you can see. They give off such a warm light and fill the room with cozy-ness.

I'm going to try making lip balm for the first time this weekend! I too believe a girl can never have too much of this wonderful product :o). Thanks for the info! I have the same sea salt candle holders as well, and I LOVE them.
